Have you become a podcast fan yet?

If not, it’s time to hop on board – especially as you build your career in the recruitment and HR industry. The number of podcast followers continues to grow. While about 15 percent of individuals reported that they listened to at least one podcast a month in 2014, by 2018, that percentage was up to 26. By last year, nearly one-third of people in the U.S. said podcasts were among their preferred informational media.

Chances are the employers you may want to work for – or the candidates you work with – are also podcast people. Here are five top recruiting podcasts to get you started or to add to your list, if you’re already part of those statistics.

1. Recruitment on the Go with Caitie McCollow

New episodes of this podcast are available daily on Sound Cloud and iTunes. Each lasts seven to 15 minutes. McCollow helps you unpack the latest issues and topics in recruitment and provides practical tips to boost your hiring processes.

2. The Chad & Cheese Podcast with Chad Sowash and Joel Cheesman

The cohosts of this podcast provide a unique perspective, including content that can be so edgy they have gotten a Parental Advisory label. But it’s a great show packed with helpful information. Sowash and Cheesman are not afraid to ask tough questions or make controversial comments if it helps get the information across. The Chad & Cheese Podcast is available on iTunes, Spotify, and Google Play.

3. Invisibilia with NPR

Although not exclusively devoted to recruitment, Invisibilia is very helpful to HR pros as it explores different aspects of human behavior, reactions, and ideas. Let’s face it: If you’re going to succeed in the talent management business, you need to understand people and constantly build relationships. In a nutshell, that’s what Invisibilia is all about. Listen on the NPR website, iTunes or Spotify.

4. Ideacast with the Harvard Business Review (HBR)

This is HBR’s weekly management podcast, hosted by Alison Beard and Curt Nickisch. Covering a broad spectrum of today’s top business topics, Green Carmichael brings in numerous subject matter experts. These have included professors, consultants, and C-suite head honchos – just for a little name dropping, recent guests have been former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and former President Bill Clinton. The podcast will help you better grasp how candidates and employees fit into a company’s bigger picture and mission. Listen on the HBR website or iTunes,

5. Recruiting Future with Matt Alder

Alder provides a high-quality podcast each week, exploring innovation and future trends in recruitment and HR. He interviews thought leaders and professionals who will give you the latest developments and perspectives. Each episode lasts about 25 minutes.
