Women have played an essential role in transforming the staffing industry, driving innovation, fostering inclusivity, and redefining leadership. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we reflect on the impact of female leaders in recruiting—trailblazers who have paved the way for future generations through resilience, mentorship, and fearless ambition. At Search Wizards, a woman-founded and woman-owned company, we understand firsthand the value of strong female leadership and the importance of lifting others along the way.
To honor this occasion, we’re sharing advice from three incredible leaders who have not only shaped their own careers but have also influenced the industry through their boldness, authenticity, and commitment to empowering others.
Owning Your Voice and Influence
One of the biggest challenges women face in leadership is ensuring their voices are heard. Luci Gomes encourages women to embrace their expertise with confidence, reminding us that leadership is not just about title or position—it’s about influence. “Speak up in meetings, share your insights boldly, and trust your expertise. Your perspective is valuable,” she says. The workplace thrives when diverse perspectives are welcomed, and women in staffing must continue asserting themselves in conversations that shape business decisions and industry trends.
Leading Authentically and Supporting Others
Authenticity is a powerful leadership tool, and Linda Lee emphasizes its importance in carving out space in the industry. “Leadership isn’t about conforming to others’ expectations—it’s about bringing your authenticity and strength to the table,” she shares. She also highlights the importance of staying humble, always making room for others to grow, and recognizing that leadership is a continuous learning journey. Women in recruiting are not just shaping their own careers; they are mentoring and uplifting others along the way. By embracing individuality and fostering collaboration, female leaders create more inclusive and dynamic workplaces.
Amybeth Quinn echoes this sentiment by emphasizing the importance of personal core values as guiding principles for both life and leadership. “Do you have core values for yourself? If not, figure out what your personal operating principles are and let those both guide how you live each day and help you to be excellent to yourself and those around you. My core values boil down to five items: be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, always do your best, and be skeptical but learn to listen. These are from The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz. I strive to live these every day but also know that because I am human I’m likely to fail on at least one of these daily. That’s why ‘always do your best’ is so incredibly important because your best will look different every day!” Her advice underscores the importance of intentional leadership and continuous self-improvement.
Stepping Into Challenges Before You Feel Ready
Taking risks is often a defining factor in career growth. Jacqueline Lynam Lewis reflects on the moments that shaped her journey, explaining that true leadership often requires stepping into roles before you feel completely prepared. “The most transformative moments in my career came when I stepped into roles that terrified me,” she admits. She credits not only the mentors who saw her potential but also her own willingness to extend that belief to other women.
Jacqueline emphasizes that growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones—it happens when we challenge ourselves to rise to the occasion, even when doubt creeps in. Too often, women hesitate to take on leadership opportunities because they feel they need to meet every qualification before making the leap. But the reality is that confidence is built through action. By taking on challenging roles, navigating uncertainty, and learning along the way, women in staffing can push past self-imposed limits and pave the way for others to do the same.
She reminds us that success isn’t about competition but about collective impact—cheering each other on, embracing challenges, and creating opportunities for shared success. “Don’t shy away from the difficult assignments or the uncomfortable conversations,” she advises. “I’ve learned that our greatest growth awaits in the moments that challenge us the most—and together, we are infinitely more powerful than we dare to imagine.”
Shruti Miglani adds to this perspective, emphasizing the power of adaptability and self-trust. “I’ve been lucky in my career with opportunities landing at the right time and with the right scope. I’ve had to adapt to new locations and industries more often than most. A key learning has been to stay agile, adaptable, and always keep moving onwards and upwards. There will be many challenges that test your resilience, but the key is to trust yourself. Take that next step in your career sooner rather than later. Remember, you are who you think you are.” Her advice highlights the importance of embracing change with confidence and resilience.
